During the 6 days horse riding you will discover :
Riding level : This activity requires you to be experienced in horse riding and fit enough to enjoy and take advantage of the ride. Also, as our horses are Arabian, they are small and can not carry heavy weight. We do not ask them to carry more than 85 kg.
What is an experienced rider?
Day 1 : Travel to Jordan
Arrival at the airport, where your driver will meet you.
Then we will drive you to Madaba, around 20 min drive. Night in Madaba in a 3* hotel.
Madaba, a mostly Christian town, is famous for its mosaics and archaeological sites (St Goerge church, museums…), that you can visit if time allows. Also, depending on your arrival time, you can enjoy dinner in one of the delicious local restaurant such as Haret Jdoudna !
Day 2 : Visit of Petra site
Early morning (7.30am), our bus will collect you to go to Petra (around 2h30 drive). Arrival around 10 am, you will enjoy a full day to visit the site. The group will have a 3 hours guided visit with an official guide. Everyone will be free to walk inside the site or to go back to the hotel after this. There are many small restaurants inside the site to get lunch.
Our 3 * hotel is located right at the entrance of the site; everyone is free to go back to the hotel at anytime. Dinner at the hotel.
Around dinner time, you will meet one of our agency responsible of your horse riding trip, to have an overview of your horse riding adventure starting the next day.
Day 3 : Horse riding adventure
After breakfast, our bus will drive you to the starting point of the ride, located up on the mountain, where you will meet your horse and the team (around 30 min drive).
First riding day, enjoying the best views over Petra ! Then continue riding for about 3 hours, crossing especially a natural spring where you can have panoramic view over Wadi Araba desert. Lunch break, where you will find our team preparing freshly-cooked lunch with your great Bedouin cook ! After lunch, everyone is free to have a little rest, walk around or just relax. After the break, continue for about 2h riding through Dilagha valley, and finally arrive in the chosen bivouac place. Our Bedouin cook will again prepare a nice local dinner, sipping our sweet Bedouin tea around the camp fire and gazing at the starry sky.
Day 4 : Riding over impressive landscapes
After breakfast, take your tent down, brush your horse and ride on the saddle to start the morning ride (about 3h), arriving in the Hismaa desert. We leave slowly the mountainous area to arrive in the soft sandy desert. Stop for lunch with our team in a wild place under the shade of a rock. After lunch, saddle up your horse for 2.5 hours riding ; we will cross Humayma village, arriving in the beautiful Wadi Rum desert and its open valleys allowing us to have long canter. You will cross the north part of Wadi Rum desert to finally reach the second camping place, where you can admire sunset and sunrise the next morning .
Day 5 : Riding into desert
After breakfast, we will start 3h riding, visiting some of the famous sites such as the “mushroom rock” and natural rock bridges. There, you will have lunch break, experimenting the desert silence of this wild area. After lunch, continue your route for 2h30, crossing Um Salab area and entering Wadi Rum Protected Area. We will camp this night at the entrance of Um Ishrin canyon.
Day 6 : Riding in deep desert
After breakfast, we will cross Cerdan valley, 3h riding, visiting amongst others a Neolithic well that is still used by the Bedouins. There, we can see also huge red sand dunes and Nabateans rock inscriptions. We will have lunch in Qattar area. Then 2.5 hours riding will allow you to visit the natural spring in Jebel Qattar to finally reach a “tor” (natural cave) of Shikshok to set up the camp. Another beautiful evening around the fire with traditional dinner, Bedouin stories and traditional music that your Bedouin guide will be happy to share with you !
Day 7 : Reaching saudian border
After breakfast, it will take you about 3h riding to reach Wadi Saabit, just next to the saudian border. There, you can admire magnificent view over Saudi Arabia mountains. On the way to the lunch point, we will pass by old dams still used by Bedouin families to water their camels and goat herds (our horses will also be happy to drink from it !). In the afternoon, another 2h ride will bring you to our based bedouin camp where you will enjoy sleeping in proper bed and having hot shower (as well as charging your electrical equipment if need) !
Day 8 : Through the longest desert canyon
After breakfast, enjoy a long morning ride (approx.4h) ; you will cross Barragh canyon, the longest canyon in Wadi Rum, having a look at its monumental cliffs, famous for rock climbing. Then we will cross the Disseh plain to go back to our fixed stables ; time for our horses to be “home sweet home” ! And for you to enjoy last Bedouin lunch, relax and have shower if you want, to get rid of the desert sand before traveling back to the civilsation.
Finally, after the emotional good byes and traditional group pictures with the team, you will ride back in the bus to reach Madaba for dinner and night in 3* hotel.
Day 9 : Amman and Dead Sea tour
After breakfast, your driver will collect you from the hotel to propose you a city tour of Amman old city (Citadelle, Roman theatre) ; later, you will enjoy an afternoon at leisure at the Dead Sea Beach, to experiment floating in the salty water. Finally, head to the Mount Nebo to admire the view on the holy Land. Last night at your hotel in Madaba.
Day 10 : Departure
On your final day we transfer you to the airport at a convenient time for your check-in and homeward travel.

Itinerary camp
We set up our bivouac camp in a different area each night, carefully selected for the season and the beautiful landscape. Your dinner is freshly cooked and we will dine around the camp fire each evening. We provide two-person bivouac (trekking) tents and mattresses, or if you wish you can sleep outside under the stars. Single tents are available for an extra charge, and occasionally in winter we will move to our fixed camp. Your luggage is transported for you by jeep, and especially for the horse riding tour we provide a “bathroom tent” with warm water where you can wash.
